The Pat Paletta Legacy

The Paletta family has been growing alongside Burlington since 1964, when Pasquale (Pat) Paletta opened a new facility of the family’s meat packing plant in Burlington.

From these humble beginnings, the family has built a juggernaut corporation, with diverse holdings and multiple corporations. Paletta International, in agri-services, Penta Properties, a real-estate, land development and revenue properties, Princess Gates Entertainment, in film, media and entertainment, and Tender Choice Foods, a food processing business, which was sold in fall of 2016.

Pat and Anita’s four sons, Angelo, Paul, Michael, and Remi, were raised with the same values their parents built into the family businesses; ambition, work-ethic, and humility. Currently, Angelo, Paul and Michael govern and direct all the Paletta companies. Angelo corporately and personally counts community engagement among one of his responsibilities. In 2016, the family announced a $5 million Pasquale and Anita Paletta Family Match Challenge at the Joseph Brant Hospital, recognizing the importance of supporting their community and working to lead citizens towards a healthier future.

The Paletta family’s dedication to community growth stretches back decades. In 1972 Pasquale donation of $15,000. to the then Burlington Cultural Center (now the Art Gallery of Burlington) was the largest private donation made. In 2000, the McNichol estate was renovated as a result of the Paletta family’s generous $425,000.00 donation, resulting in the estate and park being renamed the Paletta Mansion and the Paletta Lakefront Park. Pasquale’s other donations include the $100,000.00 to the Paletta Pool at Tansley Woods Community Centre.  Millions of dollars have been donated over the years to many causes such as the Carpenter Hospice, Community Foundation, Hamilton General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, local sports clubs, etc. In 2013, Pasquale Paletta was honoured as Burlington’s Entrepreneur of the Year. The latest Paletta donation was $50,000.00 to support the renovation for the Joseph Brant Museum.

Following in their father’s footsteps, Angelo, Paul and Mike look forward to continuing their father’s philosophy of giving back.
