Michael-Schwenger

The Schwenger Legacy

Michael and Jane Schwenger have built a family legacy based on the principles of compassion and respect.

Their business, the StressCrete Group, was started by Michael’s father in 1953, and currently holds the title of longest-operating North American manufacturer of spun concrete poles. Michael took the helm of the family business in 1976, and successfully led the company through four decades of growth. Today, the StressCrete Group is headed by Michael Jr., one of Michael and Jane’s four children.

The Schwengers are not novices at community engagement. In fact, Michael and Jane were inducted into the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction in 2015, for their dedication to community volunteerism and philanthropy. Michael has served on the boards of multiple organizations, including Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, and the Theatre Aquarius. This tireless support and leadership is intended to foster the wellbeing of their communities and reflects the core of their family’s philanthropic legacy.

In 2015, the family went a step further and created the Schwenger Family Foundation, a private foundation that has supported many local charitable and non-profit organizations. Through the establishment of this Foundation, the Schwenger family has created an enduring philanthropic vehicle that will continue to support their home communities over the coming decades.
