In 1892, developer and architect A.B. Coleman purchased the property and constructed an extravagant hotel that he named the Hotel Brant. Accommodating up to 400 guests and equipped with modern plumbing, electricity, and elevators, the Hotel Brant had solidified itself as a popular vacation spot.

THE HOTEL
The property and house took on a new life after Joseph Brant’s grandson, William J. Simcoe Kerr, died in 1875. Under new ownership, the property was parcelled out and sold. The southern end, including the Brant home, was converted into a summer resort.
