  • THE HOSPITAL

In 1917, the Federal government seized possession of the Hotel Brant for use as a soldiers’ hospital. The original Brant home was used as housing for hospital staff.

While recovering at the Brant Military Hospital, First World War veterans returning from the battlefield could expect physical and emotional rehabilitation. Following the war’s end, patients were slowly relocated to other institutions and the facility’s doors were finally closed in September 1923.

After sitting abandoned for fourteen years, the entire hospital complex, along with the original Brant home, was eventually demolished in 1937.
