Built in 1837, Ireland House was home to one of Burlington’s earliest families. Descendants occupied the house until 1985. The home interprets 3 distinct time periods and showcases a collection that is largely original. Ireland House Museum consists of the family home, cottage and woodlands.
Learn how the farm was passed through the generations and view artifacts that were used in work, leisure and play. Large aerial photographs allow you to see the dramatic changes in the Burlington landscape from a rural farming community to bustling neighbourhoods complete with schools and businesses. Did you know that the Ireland Family owned over 1000 acres of farmland in Burlington? Video presentations on four generations of the Ireland Family round out this exhibition.
