In-Person Badge Programs

The Museums of Burlington offer badge programs for Sparks, Embers, Guides, Pathfinders, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Designed around badge requirements, these programs offer participants the chance to learn, discover, and create.

Program Fees

HST is not applicable

  • $125 (up to 15 participants)

    $9 for each additional participant

    Regular Program (1, 1.5 or 2 hours)

  • $225 (up to 15 participants)

    $15 for each additional participant

    Extended Program (3 hours)

  • $325 (up to 15 participants)

    $25 for each additional participant

    Full-Day Program (5 hours)

Leaders and parent volunteers are free at a ratio of 1:8. All other leaders, parent volunteers or siblings will be charged the additional participant fee.

Programs can be booked for any evening during the week, Saturday or Sunday. Please book at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure your badges can be ordered.

Sparks Programs

    Ireland House Museum

    It’s important to learn healthy habits to keep yourself strong and happy. Join us at Ireland House Museum as we practice some good health habits. Sparks will try an experiment to learn how germs spread, play a Healthy Food Relay game to learn about good nutrition, and get their hearts pumping during a dance party! Duration: 1 hour

    Put your lab coats on and come to Joseph Brant Museum to explore the sciences! Sparks will practice their observation skills with a mystery game, experiment with an Oobleck recipe, and explore our Burlington S.T.E.A.M. Zone. Duration: 1 hour

Embers Programs

    Ireland House Museum

     

    Relationships play a big role in all of our lives, especially our family and friends. We’re going to explore the role of family with a tour of Ireland House Museum, and make a family tree craft to take home. We’ll learn about building strong friendships through common scenarios that we’ll act out together. We’ll also learn about peaceful conflict resolution skills by spinning the Wheel of Choices. Duration: 1.5 hours

    It’s time to let your creativity fly as we participate in some design challenges at Joseph Brant Museum. Embers will create their own magnetic mazes, build strong and stable structures using limited materials, and explore our Burlington S.T.E.A.M. Zone! Duration: 1.5 hours

Guides Programs

    Joseph Brant Museum

    Explore our local Burlington community at Joseph Brant Museum by learning about its past through a walking tour or slideshow presentation. Discuss Burlington’s present, and redesign a new community crest to reflect what life is like in Burlington today. Finally, imagine Burlington’s future by putting together a city plan for the year 2120. Duration: 2 hours

    Ireland House Museum

    Join us at Ireland House Museum to learn some heritage skills from the 1800’s! Guides will tour Ireland House to learn about daily life on a farm, and make homemade scones at the hearth. Guides will try some more skills such as tin punching, and knitting. Duration: 2 hours

Pathfinders Programs

    Ireland House Museum

    Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work at a museum? This program explores the various careers within the museum field, and how an organization relies on many different departments to be successful. We will focus particularly on the curatorial and education departments. The Pathfinders will tour Ireland House Museum, learning about conservation, security, and visitor experience. They will also learn about historical interpretation through a museum experience activity, and develop their own mini exhibit to take home. Duration: 2 hours

    Joseph Brant Museum

    This Joseph Brant Museum program will prove that good food and good taste do go together. We will teach the Pathfinders that eating healthy foods does not always mean eating boring foods. The Pathfinders will learn how to maintain a healthy balance of nutrients, fats and carbohydrates. They will plan a delicious and nutritious party menu, and compete in a Healthy Food Jeopardy Game.  Duration: 2 hours
