Research Request

At the Museums of Burlington, we welcome and encourage community members and researchers to explore our collections.

Following provincial orders to curb the spread of COVID-19 in our community, the Museums are temporarily closed to onsite visits from researchers. We are still accepting and fulfilling online research requests.

Our permanent collection consists of many materials significant to Burlington’s past, including the Tom Waumsley Negative collection, early maps, Burlington Gazette newspapers, and 19th and 20th-century photographs of Burlington.

To start researching, please fill out the following form as thoroughly as possible, and staff will be in touch within three weeks.

 

Research Fees:

Our team will do a quick preliminary research to determine if we have relevant material for requests. Then clients can decide if they would like to move forward with the service.

Fees will be charged for in-depth research, photocopying, recovering and/or reproducing archival material, and for the use of equipment, unless otherwise determined.

General fee ranges include:

  • Recovery of resource materials for research inquiries – $20.00 (minimum)
  • Recovery involving a detailed search – $20.00/hour
  • Photocopying – $ 0.50/page
  • Photographic or digital reproduction of photographs, documents or other archival material – Administration fee – $20.00 PLUS actual cost of reproduction.
